F. Scott Fitzgerald and his Scribner’s Editor Maxwell Perkins

In October of 2009 I gave my first UK presentation, on F. Scott Fitzgerald and his Scribner’s Editor Maxwell Perkins, to the Birmingham and Midland Institute. We talked about how Perkins worked with one of his most famous writers through all his novels, including The Great Gatsby, and how Fitzgerald introduced Ernest Hemingway to Scribner’s.

It must have gone well–they asked me back!

I also presented a three-part series about F. Scott Fitzgerald for the Florida Center for the Book when ‘The Big Read’ was Gatsby. We had a great time and looked at some clips about the book and the ‘roaring twenties.’
